Eye Exams are a series of tests conducted by one of our licensed professional Optometrists, for the purpose of evaluating the visual system including refractive errors and diagnosing eye diseases such as glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy.
The series of several tests analyze various functions of the eye, such as, coordination between the two eyes, accommodative facility for ease of reading, distance vision, and peripheral awareness. A comprehensive eye exam which includes pupil dilation can identify vision complications at their earliest stages, providing eye doctors the opportunity to treat more easily.
A comprehensive eye exam at Moderne Eye Optometry consist of:
It is important to note that a periodic eye exam can reveal underlying health issues long before other symptoms are present? In addition to identifying vision complications and eye disease, a comprehensive eye examination can also reveal conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, or even a brain tumor. The Optometrists and Dispensing Optician Registration Board of Nigeria recommends that adults above age 40 should undergo a comprehensive eye exam at least once every two years. At-risk patients and patients over age 60 should get an eye exam annually.
Eye examinations can reveal much more than vision impairments – they can save lives. If you haven’t had an eye exam in the past 12 to 24 months, contact your Moderne Eye Optometrist to schedule an appointment. If you are given a clean bill of health with no vision impairments, you can return to your normal activities and plan to visit us again in one to two year. If you are found to need an optical correction, you may be given a prescription for corrective lenses. In cases where disease is present, you may be referred to a vision or medical specialist for further treatment.
